Rare collection of Lennon art on display

WAUKESHA, Wis. �

John Lennon's widow woman Yoko Ono and his admirers are so protective of his legacy they don't need any of his original drawings photographed in full.


Some are thin and worth hundreds of thousands of dollars or more, and they don't want them to strike the Internet, where they can be counterfeited.


So for the first base time the public will get to see 27 pencil and pen drawings along with five lithographs and serigraphs - all authenticated - at the Waukesha County Historical Society Museum in suburban Milwaukee.


"Coming Together Through The Art of John Lennon" runs Saturday through Sept. 1.


A retired man in his 50s - who wants to persist anonymous - loaned the art and other memorabilia, like the microphone Lennon used to record "Imagine," to the museum.


Paul Jillson, who has represented Lennon's artwork since 1988, said Lennon didn't sell his works through galleries and didn't catalog them, so for soul to receive collected so many originals is a coup. Ono has 1,700 of Lennon's original drawings, he said.

Police confiscated some of the more gamey lithographs in London, Detroit and Chicago. Many of the lithographs were destroyed by mishandling and Lennon was demoralized from viewing his nontextual matter in world for many years after.


The Waukesha museum will make some of his nude drawings in a split up area.

Romance on screen for Gilmore Girl

'The Gilmore Girls' principal Alexis Bledel has been cast in a wild-eyed comedy called 'The Good Guy'.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Bledel will asterisk opposite 'Friday Night Lights' actor Scott Porter in the film.

'The Good Guy' tells the story of an up-and-coming Wall Street broker with a modern girlfriend (Bledel) whose life starts to unravel when he starts to mentor a new salesman (Bryan Greenberg).

The film is currently in production in New York.

Aniston has become a regular at the retreat. The former Friends star previously visited Francis' beachfront home with ex-boyfriend Vince Vaughn and pal Orlando Bloom.

Fox renews "Simpsons" for 20th season

Fox ordered a 20th season of "The Simpsons," giving characters Homer and Bart a tie with "Gunsmoke" as the longest-running series on prime-time television.



"The Simpsons," already the longest-running U.S. comedy, aired its 400th episode last year, Fox said today in an e-mailed statement. "The Simpsons Movie," released in July 2007, has grossed $526 million to date, the company said.



Fox said May 22 it finished the season with the largest prime-time audience, beating five-year champion CBS. Fox has led in viewers ages 18 to 49, those advertisers pay the most to reach, for four straight years. "The Simpsons," created by executive producer Matt Groening, features the adventures of bright-yellow Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson in their hometown of Springfield.

Born Don Vliet, Captain Beefheart was one of forward-looking music's true innovators.
